Re: Bernelli M3
I've never heard of a Bernelli. Is that a new brand?

I used a Benelli M-4 in the Marines...
Great gun.... Way too expensive. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=104757757 |
Re: Bernelli M3
I love mine! It's a high end gun. Most people talks about and use Remington and Mossy. I love benelli. You can shoot 2 3/4, #3, and #3 1/2. You have , I like that advantage!

Re: Bernelli M3
Sorry about the mis-spell. Tying too fast.
What drew me to the Benelli is being able to handle different size shells and the overall quality. Plus it gives the physcological effect of 'racking' and not having to 'rack' again under duress. In this state (CA) there is no way you can get a 'drum'. Not that I feel I need one anyway. If the evil doers come in that large of a group, I don't think 'engagement' would be my choice. More like "feets don't fail me now". |

Re: Bernelli M3
I can't wait to get my hands on the Saiga 12 - new shipment in soon.
The end of this clip he dumps a 20 round drum in about 2 seconds - very impressive - and the whole clip fed - up to 10 in clip i think - makes this thing the "win" imo. Noticed it was mentioned above too. |
Re: Bernelli M3
I'd take a Benelli M4 over saiga 12. The M4 will hold 9 shells with the extended magazine tube installed, and doesn't have that big heavy drum hanging underneath it.

Re: Bernelli M3
Skip the exotic....keep it simple....just buy an express (lowest cost) grade Remington 870 pump...it is the best gun for the money. A Mossberg is also fine....but for just a bit more, I think the Remington is much better.
For home protection, just use bird shot (#6 would be great) never anything larger than BB......people that think buckshot is the key need to think about wall penetration....do not want to shoot your kids in the next room or your neighbor.....Think about this......inside a house, the shot pattern will be under the size of a basketball...probably the size of a softball.....very deadly if shot with small shot....also, doctors can't repair that kind of a hole...probably better chance of surviving buckshot than #9 at close range. #9 will give minimum wall penetration.... Why do you guys go gah gah over these high priced pieces of equipment? Tough to beat a simple pump shotgun, a simple short barrel revolver and a simple rifle....like a lever action 30.30..... Don't get me wrong I also have interesting guns.....but in the end, I look at it similar to PM investing.....start with the basics....get what you need first..... Should duplicate this for every adult in the home: 1) Remington 870 pump in either 12 or 20 ga. Get a case of shotgun shells in various shot sizes....BB is great for people, #5 or #6 will kill anything small they flies or walks (also good for home protection inside of 50 yards) and some slugs 2) Pistol or Revolver.....simple 38/357 revolver or possibly a 9 mm is plenty. Get about 500 rounds of ammo/pistol. 3) Rifle....your choice here....anything will work...like I said, a simple 30.30 lever gun or and AR15 or a bolt gun......my favorite is a good old used 30.06 M1 Garand...what a machine....over 70 years old and still the best rifle ever invented in my opinion. In the end, we will probably never use these...but it is cheap insurance. Also, if it goes true mad max....most of us will not survive very long....Ask yourself this.....how long do you think it would take me to kill you with my M1 rifle and take all your stuff....not very long...so the same thing applies to me as does to you.....anyone that wants to kill you from a hiding spot will get you the first time you are exposed.... I'm realistic and practical.... |

I agree, if it's his first shotgun. I have 2 870's that I love. They are perfectly fine for home defense. I still to this day, keep one by my nightstand. Even though I own an M4 also. I have about 9 other shotguns also. Most are fancy bird guns. |
